Abstract: Based on previous studies, it is often believed that movement direction is encoded with a cosine tuning curve motif. Although the cosine tuning model contains temporal characteristics of neural activities to some degree, it generally overlooks the spatial information of neural activities. Spatiotemporal dynamic is a promising mechanism to examine how the brain controls movement directions. Hence, neural encoding mechanism of movement direction based on ECoG from perspective of spatiotemporal dynamics in specific cortical areas need further investigation. In this presentation, hypothesis that spatiotemporal pattern is a promising candidate for biophysical mechanism of neural encoding for movement direction will be introduced, and to extent which this hypothesis can be revealed within human ECoG. Meanwhile, potential further development of those findings, especially, applications in invasive brain-machine interface will be introduced as well.


      李永程博士,中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院集成所副研究员,深圳市海外高层次人才,2009年在中国科学技术大学取得控制理论与控制工程学士学位,后于2016年在中国科学院沈阳自动化研究所取得模式识别和智能系统博士学位。他的研究主要专注于神经工程在运动康复中的应用(基于EEG和ECoG的脑机接口,外骨骼康复机器人),神经接口(神经网络多通道信号记录和分析),生物医学信号处理和神经网络算法研究。他已在IEEE,Frontier in NS, Plos one 上发表论文十余篇。 他在加州大学尔湾分校参与了多个运动康复系统的研究和开发(包括基于EEG的具有触觉反馈的脑损患者上肢康复系统,基于ECoG的神经信号解码系统,和基于干细胞诱导的神经网络接口系统)。
